ESIC maternity benefit eligibility check

Use the contribution record as a starting check, then confirm the benefit period and claim requirements with ESIC. The result is a guide, not a decision on entitlement.

This is an information tool, not advice. It performs the arithmetic and the screening you see below on the information you give it. It does not decide whether a position is lawful, compliant or correct, it is not a substitute for professional advice, and GHR assumes no duty of care to you in respect of it.

Check the ESIC record first

This screen does not ask for an IP number, medical details or a due date. It only helps identify what to verify.

Is the employee insured under ESIC?

The 70-day check is only one part of eligibility

ESIC materials describe a contribution condition of at least 70 days paid or payable in the immediately preceding contribution periods. The relevant benefit period, insured-person record, event documents and current instructions still matter.

A result above the numeric threshold is not an approval, and a result below it should be checked against the original ESIC record before action is taken.

ESIC and employer maternity benefits are separate questions

The Code on Social Security contains both social-insurance provisions and a maternity-benefit chapter. A woman's entitlement and which route applies depend on the establishment and her current ESIC status. Sections 41 and 61 address the relationship between those routes. Ask HR or ESIC to confirm who handles the claim before relying on a payroll estimate.

To find an ESIC record, use the e-Pehchan assistant. For the full explanation, read the ESIC maternity benefit guide.

Questions people actually ask

Does 70 contribution days guarantee ESIC maternity benefit?
No. ESIC materials describe a 70-day contribution condition, but the relevant benefit period, insured-person record, supporting evidence and claim rules still apply. ESIC decides the individual claim.
What if the employee has no ESIC record?
Ask HR to review the employee's status and the maternity-benefit chapter that applies to the establishment. ESIC social-insurance benefits and the Code's employer maternity-benefit provisions are distinct routes; this checker cannot assign the payment responsibility.
Does the checker send the employee's details to GHR?
No. It asks only whether an ESIC record is known and, optionally, the number of contribution days. It does not collect an insurance number, medical document or due date.
Which contribution periods should I count?
Use the two immediately preceding ESIC contribution periods relevant to the expected benefit period, as shown in the insured person's ESIC record. Do not substitute months employed or a hand-calculated wage estimate.
What if the record shows fewer than 70 contribution days?
First check the selected periods and confirm that all payable contributions appear in the record. If the figure remains below 70, ask ESIC and the employer which maternity-benefit route applies to the employee's circumstances.
Does this checker decide which maternity law applies?
No. ESIC social-insurance benefits and the Code's employer maternity-benefit provisions are separate routes. Establishment coverage, the employee's status and current transitional rules affect which route applies.
