How to read this EPF estimate
This calculator uses the contribution rate, wage ceiling and interest rate shown in the inputs. EPF membership, eligible wages, EPS allocation and contribution limits can depend on service history and the current EPF Scheme and notifications. The balance projection repeats the selected assumptions, so it is a scenario rather than a forecast of future EPFO rates. Compare actual contributions with the EPFO passbook.
Frequently asked questions
What is the EPF wage ceiling now?
The statutory wage ceiling is ₹25,000 per month. It was raised from ₹15,000 with effect from 17 September 2026 by Gazette Notification under the Code on Social Security, 2020.
How is the employer’s 12% contribution split?
Of the employer’s 12%, 8.33% is diverted to the Employees’ Pension Scheme and the balance (3.67%) goes to EPF. The EPS share is capped at 8.33% of the wage ceiling, so the maximum monthly EPS contribution is now ₹2,083 — previously ₹1,250.
Does EPF apply to my establishment?
EPF coverage generally applies from 20 or more employees, with voluntary coverage possible below that threshold under a joint option. Applicability is confirmed per establishment, because it can differ between your locations.
Can I contribute more than 12%?
Yes. Contributions above 12% of PF wages are treated as Voluntary Provident Fund (VPF). The employer is not obliged to match VPF, and administrative charges apply to voluntary contributions above the ceiling.
