Before relying on this figure
- · Section 76(1)(a) pays the HIGHER of this figure and any amount notified by the Central Government. No notification has been applied here, so if one exists for this case the award is higher.
- · Medical expenditure for treatment of an injury caused in the course of employment must be reimbursed in full, over and above any compensation (s.76(5)).
On the wage base.“Monthly wages” is the statutory figure, not gross pay. Under the Code that is the consolidated definition in s.2(88) — basic pay plus dearness allowance, together with any amount added back where excluded allowances exceed one half of remuneration. Where an establishment is covered by the ESI scheme, Chapter VII does not apply (s.73(3)) and the employee is compensated through ESIC instead. Position stated as at 2026-09-25.
