Raise and track an EPFO grievance
Reviewed 16 October 2026. EPFiGMS is EPFO’s online grievance portal for members, employers and other stakeholders. Use it to report a specific issue with an EPFO service or record. Portal fields and available categories can change, so follow the current instructions on the EPFiGMS portal.
Prepare the details before submitting
- Choose the relevant member, establishment or pension record and check that its identifiers are correct.
- State what happened, when it happened and what action you have already taken. Include the relevant claim, transfer or grievance reference if one exists.
- Attach only documents that support the issue, such as an acknowledgement, payslip or portal message. Avoid putting bank passwords, OTPs or unnecessary identity documents in a complaint.
- Save the grievance number and a copy of the submitted description and attachments.
Common EPFO issues
| Issue | Useful records to compare |
|---|---|
| Contribution missing from the member account | Payslip, wage month, employer challan or ECR confirmation, and passbook entry. |
| Claim or transfer status is unclear | Portal acknowledgement, tracking status, bank or KYC details and any rejection message. |
| UAN profile or KYC mismatch | Member profile, the relevant identity or bank record, and the employer approval status where applicable. |
| Employer or establishment details need correction | Establishment code, the filed request and supporting company or payroll records. |
EPFO’s current member forms and portal process may differ from older articles that refer only to Form 19, Form 31 or a legacy menu path. Use the claim type and instructions actually displayed for your record.
After filing
- Use the grievance number to check status in EPFiGMS.
- Reply through the portal if EPFO requests more information.
- If the response does not resolve the issue, state precisely what remains unresolved and use the escalation channel currently offered by EPFO or the Government grievance portal.
- Keep the portal response and all follow-up references with your records.
EPFiGMS does not guarantee that a claim will be approved or settled within a fixed number of days. A grievance also does not replace a statutory appeal, court case or a required correction in the employer’s filing. Check the relevant process for the type of dispute and deadline that applies.
